This is a thin coin. Slightly smaller than a U.S. quarter is not special but being so thin makes it feel light and weak. At 0.79 mm (0.03125 in) it is less than half the thickness of a U.S. quarter, 1.75 mm (0.069 in). If I had more I would stack them up next to a quarter to see if they really take up half the space. Unfortunately this is the one and only Nigerian coin I own.
The obverse has the FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA 1976, the coat of arms has the short motto UNITY AND FAITH.
The edge has a security that is supposed to be reeded with an incuse design of dots and lonng and short gaps. This one is not really showing any reeding because it is so worn.
The reverse has 10 kobo and oil palms.
The entire coin is very worn but in a well circulated way. After a while collecting you can tell the difference between a weak strike and well worn. Add to that there is dirt and sand in the edge. I wonder is it African soil, that would cool.
